Will you buy my vehicle if I don't buy at Matthews?

Yes, and our offer will be the same whether you're buying from us or not. You don't have to be an existing Matthews customer; we will appraise your vehicle and give an offer for your vehicle at no charge and no obligations to you.

How long is the offer good for?

All offers are good for seven days if the vehicle condition remains the same. Take your time and be confident in your decision! If you have any concerns or questions about our offer, we are always here. Call us at 570-659-5406.

How do I get an offer on my vehicle?

Our process is simple. All we need to make an offer on your vehicle is some basic information, like the year, make, model and VIN. We check out your vehicle's history report and compare it to our current market conditions. If you bring the vehicle to our dealership, we pull it into our Service Center to take a thorough look and have an offer together within 30 minutes. If you are working with our Buying Team online, please give our team up to the next business day to submit an offer.

What do I need to bring to sell my car to Matthews?

While the following items are not necessary to obtain an offer for your vehicle and requirements can vary from state to state. If you think there is a possibility you might sell when you get your offer, you should come prepared with:

                -Your vehicle's title or payoff information. (All                         titleholders should be present.)

                -Valid and current registrations

                -Valid state-issued photo ID for all title holders

                -All keys, remotes, and owner's manual

How do you determine my offer?

We review current market conditions as well as your vehicle's specific year, make, model, mileage, and vehicle history report. We examine your vehicle's condition inside and out for major defects or damage. If you bring the vehicle to us, we also test drive to make sure everything is working. If repairs are needed, we may adjust our offer accordingly. We also consider the long-term maintenance and care of your vehicle.

What if I don't agree with the offer?

No worries, our appraisal process is free and you are under no obligation to take the offer we present to you. You have nothing to lose. Best of all, we won't waste your time. Even if you were planning to sell to someone else, we're happy to give you a second opinion.


 Do I need an appointment?

Appointments are not required, but we will gladly accept them for your convenience. Simply fill out the contact form, or you can visit us during our normal hours Monday through Friday 8 AM - 6 PM and Saturday 8 AM to 4 PM. Appraisals generally take 30 minutes or less. What if there is a lien on my car?

This is very common. Simply bring your lien information with you, or give it to our buying team, and we will contact your lienholder for you and request a payoff. To pay off the lien, we will need a) your lien holder's name and phone number, b) the name(s) on the account, and c) your account number and social security number. If there is a previously paid-off lien listed on the title, you will need both the title AND the release from the lien holder before we can purchase your car.

What if I owe more on my car than what it's worth?

When your payoff amount is more than the market value of your vehicle, the difference is called "negative equity". In some cases, that negative equity can be included in your financing if you buy a new vehicle. If not, we calculate the difference between your payoff and the market value, and you can pay that amount. Our awesome title clerks and buying team will handle all the paperwork, payoff process included.

If I get a message from someone online who says they work here, can I trust it?

Yes, we have a remote buying team that buys from car listings online. If you would like to validate a specific person by name, us at 570-659-5406 and we will gladly confirm.

I don't live in Pennsylvania or New York; will you still buy my vehicle?

Yes, we purchase vehicles from all over the United States. We have a team of drivers we can send to retrieve your vehicle and hand-deliver all of the necessary paperwork prepared by our Title Office. We also cover any out-of-state transfer fees that may apply.

Can I sell a car on behalf of a company?

Yes, you can. This is a slightly different set of circumstances and will require compliance with the company listed. Please reach out to our buying team for specific details.

How will I be paid for my vehicle?

If you have title in hand, we can pay by company check or cashier's check if all damage is disclosed prior to pick up. If you have a lien on the vehicle, we work directly with the bank (lienholder). If the offer price is more than what you owe, we pay the loan first and you get a check for the remaining amount. If you owe more than our offer, you would be responsible for the remaining amount at the time of the pick-up.
